Spring Seminar
Policy Documents
ER-WCPT Conference
CPD
Spring
Seminar  On the 3rd of June
2008, the MAP committee organised a Spring Seminar for its
members. This was held at the auditorium at Mater Dei Hosptal.
CPD certificates were distributed to members who were present
before the seminar started. Ms Josephine Xerri and Ms Camille
Cleland gave a presentation on 'Evaluating Physiotherapy
Outcomes' and 'Physiotherapy in HIV' respectively. This was
followed by a discussion group on Professional Indemnity were
various important points were raised. This event was sponsored
by MBT Shoes.
Policy
Documents  The MAP has issued the
first set of policy documents on Standards of Practice and
Professional Autonomy. These are available from the MAP
committee for a nominal fee of €1 each. These documents are to
be presented officially to the Director General, Dr. Ray
Busuttil. There are also two more sets of policy documents
currently being drafted on CPD and Specialisation. Click here for more

ER-WCPT
Conference  The Malta Association
of Physiotherapists attended the General Meeting (GM) of the
ER-WCPT held in Athens between the 22nd and the 24th of May
2008. The MAP was represented by John Xerri de Caro as 'voting
delegate' and Elaine Zammit as 'alternate delegate'. Click here for

Presentation of
Thesis  Ms. Dorianne Abela,
Physiotherapy student, has presented her thesis on the MAP
website. Her thesis is entitled 'A Comparison between Elastic
Resistance versus Free-weight training in strength gains for
Biceps Brachii muscle'. She was supervised by Ms. Elaine
Zammit, Senior Physiotherapist. Whilst thanking her for her
efforts and co-operation, I would like to invite any
physiotherapists interested in presenting their thesis or
other studies on the MAP website to contact MAP on maltaphysio@gmail.com.
