We are pleased to inform you that the Bobath Therapy 5 day course is being organized as part of this year's CPD Calendar year.

The course is being run over 5 days: 2 full days (9am-5pm) and 3 half days (2pm - 6pm or 9am-1pm during the weekend) spanning from mid week to the weekend. From the 4th - 8th July 2012.

The course is an amalgamation of 3 modules in one and is recognized by the BBTA (British Bobath Tutors Association).

The course will include theoretical and practical sessions using real case scenarios for the clinical element.

 The Bobath concept:

"The Bobath Concept is a problem solving approach to the assessment and treatment of individuals with disturbances of function, movement and postural control due to a lesion of the central nervous system. This approach to the rehabilitation of adults with central nervous system pathology originated in the work of Berta and Karel Bobath and has evolved over more than half a century.

The rationale for current practice is based upon present day knowledge of motor control, motor learning and neural plasticity, as well as on knowledge of biomechanics."

The Directive on Cross Boarder Healthcare has been approved on 19th January 2011. During a statement on this issue John Dalli said that this "vote marks an important step forward for all patients in Europe."  He added that this directive helps to clarify the right to access safe and good quality treatment to people across the European Union. The aim of cross boarder health care is to allow for patient mobility as well as a high level of health protection. This will be done by facilitating access to safe and high quality cross boarder health care. The basket of healthcare to which citizens are entitled and the mechanisms used to finance and deliver that healthcare will be taken under the national context. The full text can be found here.

A question and answer document on the Directive which clarifies the benefits has been developed in all EU languages.

The Directive should be implemented by the EU countries within the next 30 months after its approval.
