World Physical Therapy 2011

Join over 3,500 physical therapists from around the world at the 16th International WCPT Congress. 20-23 June 2011, Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Call for proposals: satellite programme

Closing date: 26 February 2010

The call for proposals for satellite programme education sessions is now open. The International Scientific Committee (ISC) is seeking sessions that:

  • are relevant to the congress theme and one or more of the programme tracks
  • include speakers with international experience and standing in the topic area
  • articulate a clear purpose and learning objectives
  • focus on applied skills
  • incorporate current available evidence and implications for practice
  • are designed to stimulate active engagement with delegates
  • appeal to an internationally diverse audience

The satellite programme is a new and innovative part of the WCPT congress experience. Complementing the scientific programme, it will be made up of education sessions and clinical visits with a focus on applied knowledge and skills. It will offer the delegate the chance to listen to the latest research and advances while gaining practical experience. Sessions are designed to actively engage participants, via a range of learning formats, to explore issues in depth in an area of clinical practice, education, management, research or policy.

The satellite programme is an optional element open to delegates who register to attend at least one day of the main congress and it will carry a separate fee. Sessions will be offered on the two days pre and two days post congress, as well as in parallel to the scientific programme. Attendance numbers will be restricted.

Each session is to be organised by a recognised expert in the field. The ISC are keen to include a wide range of sessions that involve presenters from all of WCPT’s regions.

For further information and to download a full copy of the call for satellite programme education sessions and application form, please go to www.wcpt.org/sat_prog.

Call for focused symposia

Many thanks to all those who submitted proposals in response to the call for focused symposia. There was a great response and the review process is now underway. Symposium convenors will be notified of the outcome by 31 January 2010. As soon as these sessions are confirmed they will be publicised. This will be the first notice of programming and will include profiles of the international speakers.

Key congress dates

A new page has been added to the Congress website highlighting all key dates including when the call for platform and poster abstracts opens at http://www.wcpt.org/key_dates.
